Reverse Osmosis Specialist – Level 1 (Online, 32 hours)
This training provides the basic knowledge and proficiencies required to work on any Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plant.
This training includes:
- Overviews of industries in which RO is used
- What the typical process flows are in different industries
- The subsystems of an RO water treatment plant, like air, water and power
- The equipment used, such as tools, valves, instruments, pumps, etc.
- Overviews of RO, RO units and pre-treatment
This is the first level of accreditation as a DHP Reverse Osmosis Specialist.
Reverse Osmosis Specialist – Level 2 (Classroom and Hands-on, 3 days)
Provides the basics of RO technology and covers the knowledge required to understand the working of any reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment plant. Offers practical application and skill formation using a commissioned desal plant.
This training includes:
- Overview of industries in which RO is used
- Typical process flows
- Overviews of RO, RO units and pre-treatment
- Theory of RO, element construction, basic design and operation constraints
- Profiling and Probing
- PV element removal, inspection and re-loading
Completing these hands-on days qualifies successful participants to become accredited as DHP Reverse Osmosis Specialists (Level 2), assuming all pre-requisites for accreditation have been met.
Reverse Osmosis Specialist – Level 3 (Classroom & Hands-on, 3 days)
This training focuses on advanced monitoring and troubleshooting for the more experienced operator and technician. Based around ‘What if?’ questions generated from years of training and operator experience there will also be time to address the specific needs of training attendees.
This training includes:
- Advanced troubleshooting
- Advanced RO system operation
- Bacteria and water treatment chemistry
- Instrumentation verification and accuracy
- Advanced trending and monitoring
- Using design software
Completing these hands-on days qualifies successful participants to become accredited as DHP Reverse Osmosis Specialists (Level 3), assuming all pre-requisites for accreditation have been met.
RO Water Treatment Chemistry (Classroom, 1 day)
Advanced and expert level understanding of RO water treatment chemistry. Many water treatment professionals have not had much formal training on water treatment chemistry, which is what this seminar will address, through DHPaul’s signature blend of theory and practical application.
An advanced level course that will provide you with the knowledge needed to understand all the chemistry involved in RO Water Treatment, including pre-treatment and post-treatment, and is applicable to all RO applications including, drinking water, power generation, waste water and sea water.
This seminar will include an honest comparison of generic and proprietary blended products.
Reverse Osmosis 301 (Classroom, 1 day)
This one day seminar is ideal for anyone wanting to improve their troubleshooting skills and take their understanding from an Intermediate to an Advanced level. Benefit from the combined experience of the DHPaul Trainers, who have trained and consulted at hundreds of different locations. Reverse Osmosis 301 is a condensed look at the theory from the RO Specialist Level 3 training, done in a classroom setting without all the practical and hands-on components.
Reverse Osmosis 101 (Classroom, 1 day)
Provides the basics of RO technology for those who can only commit to one day of classroom training. RO101 covers the knowledge required to understand the working of any reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment plant.
This training includes:
- Overview of industries using RO
- Typical process flows
- Overviews of RO, RO units and pre-treatment
- Theory of RO, element construction, basic design and operation constraints
Operation, Control and Maintenance of Membrane Filtration Units (Hands-on, 3 days)
The use of Microfiltration (MF) and Ultrafiltration (UF) membranes is growing at a significant pace with applications including sewage and waste water treatment and the production of drinking water, high purity water, food and dairy products, beverages and more. Membrane Bioreactors (MBR) are MF/UF products used in sewage treatment and this seminar covers the basics of Membrane Filtration and MBR and is perfect for anyone wanting to know about these newest membrane technologies. The hands-on days develop the practical skills needed to maintain and monitor your UF/MF unit, identifying potential problems early. Successful pre-treatment is essential for ensuring the best results from your RO plant, extending the life of membrane elements and reducing ongoing maintenance costs.

MBR Short Course – Dr Graeme Pearce (UK) (Classroom, 1 day)
The MBR Short Course consists of one full day. Covers municipal and industrial applications, and includes information on cost comparison, product review and operational issues.
UF/MF Membrane Short Course – Dr Graeme Pearce (UK) (Classroom, 2×2 days)
The UF/MF short course has an Intermediate and Advanced module, each taking place over two days. Each module of the course has a standard syllabus with detailed content updated annually to ensure it reflects the latest developments and remains current.
Water and Wastewater Minimisation Technologies (Classroom, 1 day)

Reducing the Cost of RO Water Treatment (Classroom, 3 days)
The purpose of this seminar is to provide attendees with the tools and techniques needed to identify cost-reducing opportunities at their plants. What is taught is grounded on DHPaul’s instructor-consultants’ combined experience in hundreds of water treatment plants worldwide. The seminar essentially teaches DHP’s consulting methodology for cost reduction, which can be applied successfully to the smallest plants through to the largest municipal plants.
